Cres and Lošinj - islands of the Croatian Adriatic

Visit the islands where in its clear waters good dolphins live and play, enjoy the mild Mediterranean climate and mountain-climbing, sail in boats, relax in the sea, the sun, the green forests of the islands.

First Day
Arrival by plane to Croatia, transfer to the hotel on the coast in Rabac.

Second Day
Transfer to the island of Cres, to the village of Porozina, where the mountain-climbing tour begins by visiting Beli. The fisherman's village of Beli, called also an Eagle's Nest as it is situated on the top of a 130 m high hill. It is one of the oldest villages on the island proving this fact with Roman bridge over the canyon, about 2.000 years old. In the village itself an Eco-group "Caput Insulae" is active, engaged in the protection of white-headed vultures. We continue on foot along the ecodidactic path "Tramuntana" with a unique exhibition in natural surroundings. All luggage will be taken by car to the hotel. Accommodation in the hotel.

Third Day
Mountain-climbing tour in the vicinity, to the fisherman's village of Beli, walking along old paths and paying a visit to old abandoned villages.

Fourth Day
After breakfast the busses will drive us to the city of Cres. It is a prehistoric settlement, with a Greek, Roman and Byzantine presence. A fortified settlement developed along the coast and the premise is marked by the medieval small port "mandrac", a gothic and renaissance church and a monastery, palaces of noble families and the remains of the city fortress. Hotel accommodation and immediately thereafter a mountain-climbing tour begin from Cres all the way to the fisherman's village of Valun. Return to Cres by bus.

Fifth Day - a day of rest
Excursion by ship from Cres to the Blue Cave, in the vicinity of the village of Lubenice. The stone city of Lubenice has a history 4.000 years old. The fortress above the village, on the top of a cliff 378 meters high is a jewel of Croatian rural architecture. To Lubenice we shall sail by boat and then climb on foot the steep path to Lubenice-city. Before coming there we shall visit the Blue Cave, famous for its beauty, where one can observe the wondrous play between the light and the water. Return to Cres by boat.

Sixth Day
Transfer by bus from Cres to Osor and Nerezine. Here we shall start along the mountain-climbing path to the top of Osorèica Hill, wherefrom one can see the whole of the Lošinj archipelago, to the coasts of Istria and the Velebit mountain. A simple lunch in a Mountaineer Hut, then further on foot to the city of Osor. Here we shall take a short rest and visit the city. The islands Cres and Lošinj represented in their far past one whole, but owing to the necessities of trade and the Adriatic maritime route it was necessary to divide the two islands by an artificial canal in the City of Osor. Today there is a mobile bridge there, connecting the two islands. Bus transfer from Osor to Mali Lošinj and Veliki Lošinj.

Seventh Day
Transport by bus to the southeast part of the island of Lošinj - the Kornu Beach. An easy tour on foot along the sea. Lunch in the Balvanida hotel where one may approach only by ship or on foot. Return to Lošinj on foot.

Eighth Day
Transfer by bus to the airport. Return home.
